Why Don’t You Want to Participate in the Work of Saving from Genocide: Protest Action in Support of Blockaded Artsakh
Today, on July 20, a protest was held in front of the offices of the UN and the European Union in Armenia in support of Artsakh, which has been under blockade for 221 days.
The former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Larisa Alaverdyan, posed a question to EU observers during her speech in front of the EU office: "Dear EU observers, have you come to observe genocide? Have you come to observe how children are dying in Artsakh?" Alaverdyan then added, "Would you want your child to live in blockaded Artsakh right now? Why are you leading the people towards confrontation, why don’t you want to participate in the work of saving from genocide? Where is your voice, where are your actions, is it so difficult to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan?"
One of the participants in the rally emphasized that in these days, fundamental human rights are being violated in Artsakh, which are enshrined in the Declaration of Human Rights, various conventions, and laws. "Everyone is responsible for this. Do what you have taught us in Artsakh. Don’t let people just starve," one protestor said, stating that a new genocide is brewing in Artsakh.
The participants of the protest declared that it is a disgrace for the EU to ignore what is happening in Artsakh. Another Artsakh resident remarked that Charles Michel is inciting genocide by offering assistance to Baku through Aghdam.
