Hetq.am reports that the shelves of shops in Stepanakert are empty. Some stores are entirely closed. It is impossible to find even bread and cereals. Bread is only sold in bakeries. Sugar, hygiene products, and sweets are in deficit. People are surviving on what they had previously stocked up.

Today marks the 221st day of Azerbaijan's blockade of Artsakh. The connection between Artsakh and Armenia has been severed due to the checkpoint established by Azerbaijan in the Lachin corridor, and Azerbaijan does not even allow humanitarian supplies or the transfer of patients by the Red Cross.

34-year-old Anna Sargisyan is a single mother with two children. Her son is only 2 years old, which prevents Anna from working, while her daughter is 11. With the benefits for children, Anna has been able to buy some goods.

“My mother has a small vegetable garden in Askeran and sometimes brings us potatoes and beans. There’s nothing in the shops; today, I even cooked the beans without onions. There is no oil either; I cook with lard that my mother brought,” said Anna Sargisyan.

According to her, it is also difficult to find bread. People often wait in line for over an hour.

“It’s good that my sister lives nearby. She watches the kids while I go for bread. In bakeries, they don’t allow me to buy for both of us, saying I have to come personally. Then I watch my sister’s children until she buys bread for her family. No matter the time, there are usually 15-20 people in line. People are forced to stand in line; shops no longer sell bread,” Anna recounted.
