Red Cross Has Not Transported Humanitarian Aid from Akhna to Askeran, Says Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh has issued a statement regarding the spreading of misinformation on social media.

“There is yet another piece of misinformation circulating on Facebook, claiming that Red Cross employees are transporting humanitarian aid from Akhna (Aghdam) to the city of Askeran under the escort of Russian peacekeepers. The Ministry of Internal Affairs assures that no vehicles have passed through the police checkpoint in Askeran towards Akhna, and especially, no humanitarian cargo has been transported,” the statement reads.

The Ministry also calls on the public not to heed unverified information and to refrain from divisive and defamatory actions.

Officers from the Askeran Regional Police Department are maintaining round-the-clock duty at that checkpoint, keeping the traffic flow between Askeran city and neighboring settlements under constant observation.
