Any Illegal Structure Will Have a Short Life: Zelensky's Advisor

The advisor to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, commented on the incident involving the Crimean bridge, which resulted in the death of two residents from the Belgorod region of Russia.

“Any illegal structure that is used for the supply of Russian tools of mass murder will inevitably have a short life… regardless of the reasons for its destruction,” Podolyak wrote on his Twitter microblog.

It is noteworthy that the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported that two drones attacked the Crimean bridge. The main investigational department of Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act). The investigation has implicated Ukrainian intelligence services in the attack.

“At 03:05, two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles attacked the Crimean bridge. The terrorist act caused damage to the roadway section of the Crimean bridge,” stated the announcement from the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee.

According to investigative data, one section of the Crimean bridge was damaged by a “terrorist act carried out by Ukrainian special services” during the night of July 17. The investigation is determining the identity of individuals involved from the “Ukrainian special services and armed formations.”

Sources from Ukraine’s Security Service informed RBC Ukraine that the nighttime attack on the Crimean bridge was a special operation conducted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ naval forces and Ukraine’s Security Service.

“The bridge was attacked with the help of drones; it was difficult to reach the bridge, but eventually it was successful,” the source said.

Andrei Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, commented on the incident at the Crimean bridge, quoting the head of intelligence, Kirill Budanov, who stated that “this structure is unnecessary.”

On Monday morning, the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, reported an emergency incident involving the bridge crossing the Kerch Strait. Traffic was temporarily suspended. The incident resulted in the death of a married couple from the Belgorod region. Aksyonov urged caution regarding travel over the Crimean bridge.

The Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee has stated that the main investigational department of the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act), accusing Ukrainian intelligence services of the attack.
