Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant Joins Armenia's Unified Energy System

The Armenian nuclear power plant has joined Armenia's unified energy system, with the activation of the number 2 energy block occurring ahead of schedule. This information was published on the NPP's official Facebook page.

“The activation of the number 2 energy block was scheduled for July 18 at 24:00 under the annual planned preventive maintenance (PPM) program, but due to the effective work of the staff, it was possible to implement it approximately 4 days ahead of schedule,” the statement noted.

Today, at 02:08, the 4th turbine generator of the number 2 energy block was connected to Armenia's unified energy system, followed by the 3rd turbine generator at 04:30. This marks the completion of the annual planned preventive maintenance.

The plant is now operating in normal mode at a capacity of 380 MW, while adhering to safety and reliability standards.

It is worth noting that on May 5, at 01:45, the number 2 energy block was shut down for an annual planned preventive maintenance that lasted 75 days. Besides the regular staff from the main production units of the NPP, specialists with extensive experience in the repair of power plant systems and equipment from the Russian Federation, Croatia, the Czech Republic, and other countries were involved in the works. The repair process was conducted under the supervision of specialists from the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee of Armenia.
