Does Azerbaijan Impose the Operation of the ICRC in Artsakh to Be Conducted with Visas Obtained through Baku?
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has a physical presence in the region, including in Yerevan, Baku, and Stepanakert. This presence allows the organization to maintain its neutral stance regarding humanitarian actions, whether related to the situation in the Lachin Corridor or the issue of visiting detained Armenians and maintaining contact with their families.
This was stated by Zara Amatuni, head of the communication and prevention programs at the ICRC office in Armenia, during a conversation with Radar Armenia. She was responding to queries about reports suggesting that Azerbaijan is attempting to impose the ICRC's operations in Artsakh to be conducted with visas obtained through Baku.
“The coordination of work under a physical presence allows all this to be carried out as humanitarian mediation,” Amatuni mentioned during the interview with the media outlet.
