60 Football Fans Detained in Kazan
The police in Kazan have detained around 60 football fans, as reported by Interfax, citing sources from law enforcement agencies. The police press service stated that those arrested "violated public order" on a train traveling from Nizhny Novgorod to Tatarstan.
“On the evening of July 14, the duty unit of the Kazan branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that passengers on the Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan electric train were damaging property and violating public order. As soon as the train arrived in Kazan, police officers detained 35 individuals and handed them over to the territorial police department,” the police reported.
Reports have been filed against 28 individuals under the article for petty hooliganism. In total, according to the agency, since July 14, 58 fans have been taken to police stations in Kazan, of which 55 are supporters of FC CSKA Moscow. 47 of them have been detained for 48 hours.
It is noteworthy that the Russian Super Cup football match will be held in Kazan, where FC CSKA will compete against Zenit St. Petersburg for the cup.
