MP Couples Buy Apartment in Tsaghkadzor: 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: 'Before the revolution, Narik Babayan, who moved around by 100-dram minibuses, is doing quite well now. According to the declaration submitted by Narik Babayan, a deputy from the 'Civil Contract' faction of the National Assembly, the MP purchased an apartment in Tsaghkadzor, Kotayk Province, worth 27 million drams last year, of which he is a co-owner. He had also bought an apartment in the village of Arinj, Kotayk Province in 2017, where he is again a co-owner.

The current MP purchased a 2009 model Toyota in February 2021, when Babayan was the Chairman of the State Property Management Committee. The deputy of the Civil Contract party strangely had no cash on hand, while his bank accounts held 53 thousand and 521 thousand drams. Over the course of one year, he only received income from his parliamentary salary; however, there is no information about his expenses in the declaration.

His wife, Lena Nazaryan, has also submitted her declaration. She has declared the apartments in Tsaghkadzor and Arinj, which she co-owns with her husband, but Nazaryan inherited an individual residential home in Nork-Marash in 2009.

Similar to her husband, Nazaryan reported having no cash, but she had 1 million drams in her bank accounts. It turns out that Lena Nazaryan is an individual lessor, and throughout the year, she earned 1 million 500 thousand drams from rentals, received another 8 million drams from the National Assembly, and additionally earned 34 thousand drams from the 'House of Women’s Rights' organization. Nazaryan also has a loan of 43 million drams and spent 2 million 100 thousand drams for the annual repayment of that loan.

Finally, it should be added that corruption 'greets' parliamentary couples.
