My Mother Does Not Have Such Vocabulary: Maria Karapetyan on Her Mother's Abusive Language

"My mother has not written such words and does not have such vocabulary at all." This was stated by Maria Karapetyan, a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract party, during a press conference at the National Assembly, referring to the abusive comments under a post criticizing her on the internet.

The deputy noted that she and her colleagues are regularly subjected to attacks on social media. She considers this case to be one of many similar instances.

“When I look at the comments under my posts, it becomes evident that this is not spontaneous, natural anger expressed with inappropriate vocabulary, but rather a coordinated attack aimed at silencing public figures, in this case, me. I assume that the organizers, having evaluated the effectiveness of the attack that occurred in the previous days, especially during the OSCE assembly, decided that my persona should also be involved in it," she indicated.

The ruling party deputy reiterated once again that her mother did not do such a thing and does not have such vocabulary. “Those who know me can draw conclusions about the person who raised me. By examining my mother's activity on Facebook, they can conclude that the maximum she could do is post a Disney sticker under my posts. I repeat, my mother did not do such a thing; she does not have such vocabulary,” explained Maria Karapetyan.

She also added that she does not have a complete answer regarding what happened, but upon returning from a business trip, she received a message on her Facebook page attempting to hack her social media account. “This means that the attack reached this scale, which was surprising for me; I didn’t expect that so much effort would be needed in that direction. I differentiate between citizen criticism and abusive language. One user left a comment with very bad vocabulary under my post, and then supposedly started a dialogue with my mother, which does not correspond to reality,” she stated.

It’s worth noting that Maria Karapetyan's mother, Aida Hayrapetyan, made sexual abusive comments on Facebook directed at all citizens who criticized her daughter for declaring Armenia's recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, including Artsakh.

Notably, days ago, at the ongoing OSCE assembly in Canada, the ruling party deputy announced in her speech that Armenia recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, including Nagorno-Karabakh.
