With the "Light Touch" of the ARF, Macron Will Not Be at the Negotiation Table: Gevorg Papoyan

France has the most balanced position on the negotiations, but with the "light touch" of the ARF, France's role in the negotiations has been delegitimized. This was stated today, on July 7, during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly by Gevorg Papoyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction.

“It will be very difficult to bring France to the negotiation table because it will be said that you claimed that the President of France said such a thing. Moreover, it doesn't matter if such a thing was not said, but the ARF has given so much of a pass to Azerbaijan that Macron will not be at that table either. We created this international scandal by giving a 'pass' to Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has benefited from it. Keep giving 'passes' to Azerbaijan; I say this to those who are collecting signatures. Azerbaijan will gladly take advantage of it,” said Papoyan.

Papoyan also emphasized that Macron's exit could lead to the platform's non-existence, which would be a "concession" to Azerbaijan. “All of this is either incompetence or betrayal to the state, the homeland, and the people. Now let them decide whether they are incompetent or traitors,” said the parliamentarian.

It is worth noting that during his three-day visit to Marseille, French President Emmanuel Macron met with various influential circles. According to a statement from the ARF’s public relations office, during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in Marseille, attended by Member of the National Assembly Sabrina Akresti-Rupas, the ARF representative for Western Europe, Hratch Vardapetyan, addressed the President of France and said: “Mr. President, we expect a more impactful initiative from you against the blockade of Artsakh and Azerbaijani aggression, practical and not just moral.” Macron also stated that he has created and will exert more pressure on the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, than Nikol Pashinyan. The question is Pashinyan. I am the only one with a clear position and message regarding the Artsakh issue.”
