MP Armen Gevorgyan Denied Boarding Flight

The delegation led by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, departed for Warsaw, Poland, on a three-day visit on July 3. Among the delegation members was MP Armen Gevorgyan from the 'Armenia' faction, who, however, was not allowed to board the plane because he is under travel restrictions due to an ongoing criminal case.

This was reported by 'Hraparak'.

It was revealed at the airport that the National Assembly had already covered his ticket, hotel, and other expenses. A few days before the trip, the MP assured the staff that the court had granted him permission to leave, a fact communicated to him by his lawyer. It should be noted that Gevorgyan is associated with the same criminal case as Robert Kocharyan and has been facing trial for several years, receiving permission to cross the border before each trip.

This time, it turned out that although the court had made a decision, they failed to input it into the system in time, so it did not appear at the airport. The flight was scheduled for a late hour, and they could not wake the staff at the data transmission center or restart the system, resulting in Gevorgyan turning back from the airport.

We learned that the flight was delayed due to Gevorgyan's situation, and they also had to wait for the return of his checked luggage. The spokesperson for the Speaker of the National Assembly, Tsovinar Khachatryan, confirmed that Gevorgyan did not travel with the delegation and added that he had previously assured the National Assembly that he had the necessary permission, while he himself would clarify other questions.
