Video: Tourist Carves Girlfriend's Name into Roman Coliseum Wall
A British tourist, who carved his and his girlfriend's names into the wall of Rome's Coliseum, has written a letter to the Roman prosecutor's office and city hall stating that he only learned about the ancient status of the architectural monument after the incident.
"I confess that I found out about the monument's antiquity only after what happened, unfortunately," the tourist's words were quoted by the city newspaper il Messaggero, according to TASS.
A video surfaced on the popular portal Reddit at the end of June, showing a young man using a keychain to engrave the inscription 'Ivan + Hayley 23' into the brick wall of the amphitheater.
