Macron to Meet with 220 Mayors as 45,000 Police Deployed in France: New Details

French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with 220 mayors of France on July 4 amidst ongoing mass unrest in the country. This was reported by France 24.

It is noted that on July 2, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that 45,000 police and gendarmes would be deployed across France in an effort to quell the violent riots.

The source states that the organized disturbances could damage France's international reputation. Reportedly, on Sunday, 78 protesters were arrested in France, a significant decrease from the 719 arrests made the previous day. In total, more than 3,000 people have been arrested.

During the protests, hundreds of police officers and firefighters have been injured, buildings and structures have been damaged, and vehicles have been set on fire.

It is worth recalling that a relative of a 17-year-old boy killed by police gunfire recently stated in an interview with the BBC that those orchestrating the mass unrest in the streets of various French cities are disrespecting the memory of the deceased boy.
