Poland Sends Additional Forces to Strengthen Border with Belarus

Warsaw will send 500 police officers to strengthen the border between Poland and Belarus, announced Poland's Minister of Internal Affairs Mariusz Kamiński. “Due to the tense situation at the border with Belarus, I have decided to bolster our forces with 500 police officers from anti-terrorism units,” Western media quoted Kamiński as saying.

Kamiński added that they would join 5,000 border guards and 2,000 soldiers who are already monitoring the border.

It is worth noting that Poland's border guard reported that the day before, 187 people attempted to illegally enter Polish territory from Belarus.

Earlier this week, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński deemed it necessary to implement measures to strengthen security in the border area due to the transfer of the “Wagner” group to that country. He emphasized that these would be both temporary and permanent security measures.
