Georgia Can Be an Effective Mediator Between Baku and Yerevan, Says Garibashvili

Georgia has shown that it is capable of being an effective mediator in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and is ready to join the process if necessary. This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in the country's parliament.

“Two years ago, we recorded the first concrete results in the communications between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At that time, I was personally involved. And the role of the mediator ended with concrete results,” he said.

“I want to once again publicly reaffirm our willingness to join the process between the two countries, our friends. This is a very important direction,” Garibashvili added.

In June 2021, with Georgia's mediation, Azerbaijan released 15 Armenian prisoners, while Armenia handed over maps of the minefields to Azerbaijan.
