VIDEO: No Essential Goods Available in Artsakh, Says Metakse Hakhobyan

Metakse Hakhobyan, the secretary of the 'Justice' faction of the National Assembly of Artsakh, spoke via live video link in front of the French Embassy, detailing the current situation in Artsakh.

"As you can see, I am in darkness, this means we are facing recurrent blackouts. In Artsakh, we have been experiencing disconnections three times a day for two hours at a time for an extended period. Today I walked kilometers because we no longer have the opportunity to move around by car; public transport is operating very infrequently and is quite overloaded. During this time, I specifically entered shops to observe the current situation. The circumstances in Artsakh can change rapidly within hours," said the Artsakh legislator.

According to Hakhobyan, essential goods are almost nonexistent in shops. "There are items that are not for daily use and have remained from times past. We can no longer even speak of vegetables and fruits; there is only a very limited quantity of local production and they are astronomically priced and sell out quickly. In other words, today in Artsakh, 30,000 children are simply deprived of the opportunity to consume vitamin-rich food. There has been a moment of panic among the population regarding the wheat reserves. People are trying to stockpile food. The anxiety is not about the road being closed but about the political situation and the international community’s stance on it," she added.
