Thank You to Our American Friends for Their Steadfast and Principled Stance: Artsakh Foreign Ministry

The Artsakh Foreign Ministry has commented on the hearings titled "Protection of the People of Nagorno-Karabakh" held in the U.S. Congressional Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh welcomes the hearings organized on June 22 in the U.S. Congress under the title of ‘Protection of the People of Nagorno-Karabakh’. We express our deep gratitude to all the organizers and participants of the hearings, including U.S. Congress members Chris Smith, James McGovern, Adam Schiff, Frank Pallone, and former U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Evans for their efforts to raise awareness about Azerbaijan's illegal and aggressive ambitions and for the protection of the rights of the people of Artsakh.

It is worth noting that U.S. Congress members, in their speeches, called on the U.S. leadership to employ all possible measures to ensure the protection of the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and to prevent further tensions that could lead to new wars and new crimes.

We are convinced that holding such hearings is an important step both politically and morally, as Azerbaijan's expansionist and aggressive policies pose serious challenges and threats not only to the Armenian people and the Armenian statehood but also to regional stability and, in general, to the civilized world.

We also thank our American friends for their steadfast and principled stance and express hope that the continuation of such hearings can serve as an important signal before the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan next week in Washington regarding the resolution of the issues facing the people of Artsakh and overcoming the challenges in security and humanitarian fields.”
