Netherlands Urges Citizens to Leave Russia
The Netherlands is advising its citizens to leave Russia and to avoid traveling there due to an "unpredictable situation." This was announced by the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as cited by RIA Novosti.
"Given the developments, the tightening of security regime in Russia, and the high degree of unpredictability, it is strongly advised not to travel to Russia, and moreover, to leave the country immediately if you are there," the statement on the ministry's website reads.
It was noted that the whole country is currently under a red-critical color code. "Stay updated with the news, be cautious, but if you must go outside, always carry identification documents with you," the agency advised.
Recall that on the night of June 23-24, the forces of the Wagner Group seized the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Armed groups were moving within the city, and entrance and exit points were controlled by checkpoints. This unfolded against the backdrop of an announcement by Yevgeny Prigozhin, who claimed that the Russian Armed Forces had launched missile strikes on Wagner camps, which was denied by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding Prigozhin’s organization of an armed rebellion. Russian President Vladimir Putin characterized the actions of the rebels as a criminal adventure, a blow to Russia's back, and betrayal brought on by great ambitions and personal interests. An anti-terrorist operation regime has been established in the regions of Moscow, the Moscow region, and Voronezh to prevent possible terrorist acts.
