In Goris, Surik Khachatryan's Son Engaged in Altercation and Fired a Shot, Then Fled: Media
On June 19, around 21:40, a citizen was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of "laceration wound to the right wrist area, foreign metallic body, at the level of the right forearm, likely caused by a bullet." This was reported by Shamshyan.com.
The head of the Syunik regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vardan Mkrtchyan, and the head of the Goris police department, Armen Karapetyan, arrived at the hospital.
Doctors informed the police that the injured party was unable to provide an explanation about the incident, and before being transferred to surgery, he told the medical staff that he had received the injury from falling.
While the doctors were fighting for the victim's life, the police were able to identify him as 46-year-old Armen Baghdasaryan, a resident of Syunik.
The police quickly determined that on the same day at around 20:30, an altercation took place between Armen Baghdasaryan and Tigran Khachatryan, a resident of Syunik, in front of an auto service point at 45 Artsakh Highway, during which Khachatryan fired a gun he had on him, injuring Baghdasaryan.
According to G. Shamshyan, Tigran Khachatryan is the son of the former Syunik governor Suren Khachatryan (Liska).
Furthermore, operational data indicated that the incident was provoked by Tigran Khachatryan, who had been using abusive language and showing blatant disrespect towards the public both inside and outside the auto service point for an extended period.
A team from the Syunik regional investigation department of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, led by the on-duty investigator, arrived at the scene, where a criminal case was initiated under Article 335, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (illegal circulation of firearms, their key components, ammunition, and other materials, devices, items) and Article 297, Part 3 (hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon or an object adapted for causing bodily harm, or by threatening to use such a weapon or object).
According to photojournalist reports, the son of the Syunik governor fled the scene after the fight.
