Brutal Clashes in Argentina: Over 90 Injured
Brutal clashes, injuries, and detentions in Argentina. Violent confrontations occurred between police and protesters in the Jujuy province located in northern Argentina. This was reported by the Buenos Aires Times.
The protesters stormed the provincial legislature in an attempt to disrupt the ceremony for the adoption of a new regional constitution. Citizens believe that this constitution restricts their social rights.
These tensions rapidly escalated into chaos. Activists threw stones at security forces, who retaliated by deploying tear gas in response to the protesters' unrest.
According to local authorities, those injured have sought medical attention for lacerations, eye injuries, and fractures. The Ministry of Health reported that medical staff in hospitals and emergency services provided first aid to 96 individuals, including 66 members of the provincial police. A total of 58 people were detained for participating in the riots.
