Video: Suspect in Attempted Murder Discovered in Yeghegnadzor - Details
The officers of the main department of criminal police acted on operative data in collaboration with the criminal investigators of the Mashtots division. On June 17, shortly after midnight, law enforcement agents arrested a 31-year-old resident of Baghramyan Street in Yeghegnadzor in an apartment located in one of the buildings in the Norashen neighborhood of the capital. He was wanted by the Yeghegnadzor police department on suspicion of attempted murder, with arrest as a preventive measure. This was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
The incident occurred on May 6. On that day, the Yeghegnadzor police received the first alert at 23:45, as an unidentified citizen reported hearing loud conversations and swearing near Yeghegnadzor Hospital. Ten minutes later, a new report was received stating that gunshots could be heard in Yeghegnadzor. Half an hour later, the same phone made another call, indicating that the person reporting the gunshots had mental health issues. However, there were others who had also heard the gunshots.
As a result of operational and investigative measures, it was revealed that there were gun cartridges on Shahumyan Street in Yeghegnadzor. Measures were taken to clarify the circumstances of the incident. A criminal case was initiated at the regional investigative department of Vayots Dzor. Thanks to the joint efforts and investigative actions of the Police of Vayots Dzor and the Yeghegnadzor division, many details pertaining to the incident of May 6 were clarified.
On the matter of fast driving along Baghramyan Street in Yeghegnadzor, around 22:00, a 31-year-old local with friends had gone to a car wash on Shahumyan Street in a "Mercedes" to obtain clarifications from the driver of a "VAZ-2107". He had shouted insults and threatened to damage the car. He also argued with the owner of the car service station and his two sons. During the scuffle, the 31-year-old fell and was struck multiple times, prompting him to fire gunshots in the direction of the car wash with an illegally possessed firearm out of frustration. Fortunately, the intent to kill did not succeed.
He subsequently hid the firearm under a shed on a plot of land in the village of Getap. It was discovered on May 7. A wanted notice for the young man on charges of attempted murder was issued on May 17, culminating logically one month later, on June 17. The identities of all participants in the incident have been clarified, and other circumstances are being clarified through ongoing pre-trial investigation.
