18+ VIDEO: Armenian Volunteer Assaulted in Kherson While Assisting Evacuations
On June 16, 2023, a notorious attack was carried out against our group leader, Karen, a well-known volunteer. This was reported by a Telegram user named Maria.
"Two men, clearly possessing some level of training and hand-to-hand combat skills, assaulted Karen, knocked him down, and continued to beat him until he was unable to get up. Although Karen himself did not wish to draw your attention to this incident, the situation is much more serious than just a hooligan attack.
The attackers are members of the so-called 'black transport mafia,' who profit from the misfortunes of people by offering services to evacuate them from Kherson. Of course, they are none too pleased that volunteers are helping people for free, preventing them from benefiting from our compatriots' plight. To them, Karen is nothing short of a 'red rag to a bull,' as he has been systematically evacuating people from dangerous areas for a long time, organizing and coordinating numerous events with other volunteers not just from Kherson and the region, but from many other parts of Ukraine and some European countries as well.
Thus, these thugs who attacked Karen have long been sending threats, including threats to his life, demanding that he cease evacuating people and 'not interfere with their business.'
Unfortunately, the police who arrived at the scene seemed to have some corrupt ties with these thugs and behaved very strangely. They not only engaged very friendly with the attackers upon arrival but also hinted that there was no crime here and that we should just leave. And at the police station, where we brought our clarifications about the details of this crime, they initially did not even want to accept our explanations and treated us quite unfairly (they even refused to identify themselves).
Thank God, there are still decent people in our police force, and after some of them intervened and our caring lawyers insisted that the police must fulfill their legal duties, our clarifications were eventually accepted," the user wrote.
