“We will try to ensure the safety of investors,” Kerobyan on the Eraskh factory
Long-term sustainable peace is essential for boosting investments in border communities, and the Armenian authorities are working towards this goal. This statement was made by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia, regarding the construction of a factory in Eraskh.
Today, Azerbaijani armed forces again fired towards the metallurgical factory being built in Eraskh.
“I believe that long-term stable peace is necessary so that we can create a favorable investment environment not only at our borders but throughout Armenia,” added Kerobyan.
When asked about the construction phase of the factory and when it is expected to start operation, the minister advised to clarify with the investors. “We will try to ensure their safety, but the projects and works fall under their jurisdiction,” he said, adding that the Ministry of Economy is trying to assist in the implementation of investment projects through its programs.
Tiran Hakobyan, the director of GTB Holding, had previously stated that the construction work on the factory is expected to be completed in December, while technological works are scheduled for next year. Regarding the feasibility of implementing investment projects within the mentioned timelines, the Minister of Economy found it challenging to provide an answer and reiterated to communicate with the investors. “They will provide more accurate guidance,” emphasized Kerobyan.
It is noteworthy that Azerbaijani units have been periodically firing towards Armenian positions located in the Eraskh area since June 13. On June 14, the Ministry of Defense reported that Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire at around 11:45 am towards the metallurgical factory being built with foreign investments in Eraskh, resulting in injuries to two Indian citizens.
