New Oil Field Discovered in Turkey
A new oil field has been discovered near the Turkish border with Iraq, with potential reserves that could exceed the country's largest oil field, Gabari, by five times, according to Sabah newspaper.
Preliminary exploration has already begun in the area of Mount Cato, situated between the provinces of Şırnak and Hakkari. Sabah reports that the quality of the discovered oil can be compared to that of Arabian oil, which is the most expensive in the world and has minimal pollution.
Earlier in May, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the discovery of an oil field near the Gabari mountain range, with an output capacity of approximately 100,000 barrels per day. The value of its reserves is estimated to be around 70 billion dollars.
