Is There a Decision to Change the Armenian Coat of Arms? CPP MPs Respond to the Question

During a parliamentary briefing today, journalists posed a question to Arthur Hovhannisyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction, asking whether there is a decision to change the national emblem.

In response, the MP emphasized that the Prime Minister has expressed his thoughts on the matter, and everyone is welcome to join these discussions. “At this moment, I cannot express any thoughts. Naturally, I may have my own perceptions, but the government, as such, does not have any decision to put forward any initiative. The Prime Minister has opened a conversation, and you all can join that conversation,” said the CPP Secretary.

Another member of the CPP faction, Babken Tunyan, also pointed out that discussions regarding the coat of arms and anthem have always been present from various circles. “If we imagine for a moment that this emblem was presented today, I am almost certain that each of you sitting in the hall would have different opinions about it, but it is not the most important issue on the agenda; it is merely a topic that can be contemplated,” he added.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated yesterday, June 16, during the discussion of the annual report on the 2022 state budget in the National Assembly, questioning what connection our coat of arms has with our state.
