Alen Simonyan Also Acquires Apartment in 'Buryel' Residential Complex
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, acquired an apartment in the 'Buryel' residential complex being constructed on Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan during 2022. This information comes from Alen Simonyan's annual property and income declaration for 2022, as reported by 'Hetq'.
It is noteworthy that the 'Buryel' residential complex is being developed by 'Jermuk Group' LLC, owned by former MP Ashot Arsenyan from the Republican Party. Arsenyan currently has close ties with representatives of the authorities. His son, Vahagn Arsenyan, was elected mayor of Jermuk in 2021 on the list of the ruling 'Civil Contract' party.
As stated in the declaration of the National Assembly President, Alen Simonyan lent 'Jermuk Group' LLC 53 million 920 thousand drams during 2022, which can be considered as the value of the apartment acquisition deal. For the purchase of the apartment, Alen Simonyan and his wife, Mariam Margaryan, took out a mortgage loan from 'Hayekonombank', owned by businessman MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, amounting to 48 million 325 thousand drams. This amount has been declared as income received in the reporting year.
In his 2022 income, Alen Simonyan also declared 7 million drams received from Ana Gevorgi as rental income. As the President of the National Assembly, Simonyan earned a salary of 14 million 406 thousand drams last year. He also mentioned receiving 374 thousand drams from Narek Mantashyan, the co-chair of the 'Alternative' NGO, as compensation mandated by the court for defaming and insulting Simonyan.
