Armen Ashotyan Sentenced to Two Months in Custody
Armen Ashotyan, the vice president of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has been sentenced to two months in custody. This was announced in front of the courthouse by Heinrich Danielyan, the head of the RPA youth wing.
It is noteworthy that the decision was made by the Anti-Corruption Court. Recall that Armen Ashotyan, the former Minister of Education and Science and vice president of the RPA, was arrested in relation to a criminal case regarding alleged abuses at the Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi, which is being investigated by the Special Investigative Committee of Armenia. The basis for his detention was the violation of the conditions of a precautionary measure.
Yesterday, on June 15, Ashotyan was first arrested for 24 hours, and within 12 hours, he was to be presented to the court to discuss his detention as a precautionary measure.
