Red Cross Representatives Visit Detained Azerbaijani Soldiers in Armenia

Red Cross representatives visited two Azerbaijani soldiers who unlawfully crossed the border into Armenia and were subsequently detained. Zara Amatuni, head of the communication programs of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Armenia mission, informed News.am about this visit.

The soldiers were given the opportunity to contact their families. It is worth noting that the soldiers crossed the Armenian border illegally from the Nakhchivan side on April 7.

On April 12, one of the soldiers, Huseyn Akhundov, opened fire multiple times with his service weapon on Hayrapet Meliksetyan, an employee of the ZPMK, killing him. In court, he confessed to his guilt and expressed remorse, with the trial ongoing.

The other soldier has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
