Lukashenko Claims Russia Wanted to Rent Crimea
Russia and Ukraine sought to negotiate the rental of Crimea during peaceful talks in Istanbul in 2022. This was announced by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, as reported by BelTA.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin showed him the relevant draft of the ceasefire agreement. “The process was good; the agreement could have been signed by the heads of state. It was a normal agreement. If it were in place now, it would be different, but now it's already impossible. Now it is considered the territory of Russia, according to the Constitution,” Lukashenko said.
He emphasized that the process was progressing well and the agreement could indeed have been signed by the leaders of the nations.
