Death Toll of Religious Sect Members Starving in Kenya Reaches 303

The number of deceased members of the Good News International Church in Kenya has reached 303. This was reported by TASS, citing Kifili County Prefect Rhoda Onyanchah. It is noted that the victims were using extreme methods of starvation.

Kenya's Minister of Interior and Coordination of National Government Kithure Kindiki stated that the number of victims may continue to rise. Earlier, The Star reported that the death toll of the sect's members had reached 179. At that time, Rhoda Onyanchah announced that 609 members of the sect were considered missing, and efforts are underway to locate them.

On May 9, the Kenyan newspaper The Nation reported that internal organs had been removed from the deceased members of the Good News International Church. Since May 1, a special team of experts has been conducting autopsies on 112 bodies exhumed in Eastern Kenya as part of the investigation into the deaths of members of the sect. It has been found that the majority died from starvation. However, there are victims, primarily children, who were reportedly asphyxiated. The police do not rule out that these individuals were killed for the purpose of organ removal.
