We Will Intensify Our Efforts Towards the Opening of the Zangezur Corridor: Aliyev

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, considers the opening of the Zangezur Corridor to be inevitable.

“Every time we meet (with the President of Turkey - Auroranews), we discuss transportation issues. In the current geopolitical conditions, the significance of the 'Middle' Corridor is increasing even more. The volume of freight transportation through the Caspian Sea and later through Azerbaijan is growing year by year and will continue to grow. Therefore, we are expanding our transportation and logistical capabilities in Azerbaijan,” Aliyev stated today at a press conference following negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Baku.

According to him, during today’s talks, the Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents exchanged thoughts on the early opening of the Zangezur Corridor.

“The opening of the Zangezur Corridor is inevitable; the sooner it opens, the better. In any case, we will enhance our efforts in this direction. The opening of this corridor will create new opportunities for all countries and will positively impact business cooperation in the region,” Aliyev added.

It should be noted that the Armenian authorities have repeatedly emphasized that no negotiations are being held regarding the corridor, and that there is no such issue for them.
