VIDEO: Men Are the Decision-Makers, and They Do Not Consider Women for High Positions - MP
During the discussions of the fifth session of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly of Armenia, the topic of gender representation in the Public Council and the Television and Radio Commission was raised in relation to the current law on audiovisual media. According to the proposed amendments, it becomes mandatory to have representatives of one gender present in pairs.
MP Lilit Minasian from the ruling party spoke about gender equality and the participation of men and women in official positions. "All democratic countries have gone through this process, and I believe they have reached a point where, for example, the representation of women in government is much higher than it is now, as we currently have 2 female ministers in our government," she stated.
The MP pointed out that women are not considered for high positions but rather for roles that require less work time and responsibility. More details are available in the video.
