Mihran Poghosyan's Bodyguard and Driver Assisted in the Embezzlement of 44 Million AMD
The Anti-Corruption Committee has revealed through its investigation that Mihran Poghosyan's (former chief executor) bodyguard, E. S., and driver, H. B., assisted in the embezzlement of approximately 44 million AMD from state budget funds through misappropriation.
According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, the investigation specifically established that M. P. appointed his personal bodyguard E. S. (from September 2008 to April 2016) as a first-class consultant in the operational division of the enforcement service, while his personal driver H. B. (from November 3, 2009, to April 2016) was designated as a leading consultant in the same division. However, they were instructed to ensure his personal safety instead of performing their legally mandated duties.
This means that E. S. and H. B. did not actually attend to their work in the operational division, but instead constantly accompanied the former chief executor M. P., performed his personal tasks, and received salaries and equivalent payments from the state budget without fulfilling their official job responsibilities.
As a result, M. P., by abusing his official position, misappropriated a total of 22,117,820 AMD from the state budget in the case of E. S., and 21,754,643 AMD in the case of H. B.
Both H. B. and E. S. have been charged under part 1 of point 3 of Article 38-179 of the former Criminal Code of Armenia for their criminal acts.
The pre-trial investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The materials of the case have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request for approval and forwarding to court.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, by a court decision that has entered into legal force.
