44-Year-Old Man Threatened Family Members with Grenades

On June 8, at 9:11 PM, an unknown caller contacted the operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stating that someone had a grenade and abruptly hung up. Through a callback, it was revealed that the caller was a 69-year-old resident of the village of Geghhovit in the Gegharkunik region.

An operational-investigative group was dispatched to the specified address. It was found that the 44-year-old son of the 69-year-old homeowner entered the house around 8 PM with two grenades in hand, under the influence of alcohol. He assaulted family members and threatened to detonate the grenades and kill them. However, after facing resistance from his father and brother, he exited the house and hid the grenades in the grass behind the house.

During the inspection of the mentioned area, law enforcement officers discovered two F-1 type grenades with detonators. The homeowner also presented a 4-liter container containing 181 grams of a cannabis-like substance, retrieved from a beehive box in a nearby partially collapsed building, along with a 3-liter container containing a greenish liquid. From different parts of the collapsed building, he also produced plastic bottles intended for smoking the cannabis substance and one syringe. He stated that the cannabis-like substance belonged to his son.

As a result of the actions taken, the 44-year-old man was located, arrested, and taken to the Martuni police station. He and the accompanying documents were submitted to the investigative body.
