French President Emmanuel Macron visited the hospital to meet with children injured in the attack in France yesterday, June 8. This was reported by France 24.
Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by his wife Brigitte Macron, arrived in the city of Grenoble in southeastern France, where three of the injured children are currently receiving treatment. Investigators are trying to determine the motives behind the knife attack at the playground.
The publication reports that one of the victims is British, while another is from the Netherlands. Two adults were also injured in the attack. The publication also writes that the assailant, dressed in black and armed with a knife approximately 10 centimeters long, attacked the children while shouting, 'In the name of Jesus Christ,' an event recorded in a video by a witness.
The local prosecutor stated during a briefing with reporters that the suspect was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The suspect's mother said he is 'in shock.' Armed police arrested the suspect at the scene.
It is noted that the incident occurred in the city of Annecy in the Alps. Two of the injured individuals remain in serious condition.
