The Wire Was Not Open. The Child Entered It to Hide. Details About the Electrocution Incident in Debet

Yesterday, a tragic incident occurred in the village of Debet, Lori Province, where an 11-year-old girl was electrocuted and died. Aysor.am reports on this event.

Police officers and investigators who arrived at the scene determined that around 5:00 PM, 11-year-old Lusine G. from the village was struck by an electric current that came from a light pole in the playground near the village administration.

In an interview with the media, the head of Debet’s administration, Anush Sargsyan, stated that a preliminary investigation is still underway. “There is no specific information yet. But based on initial findings, it is likely that the child entered there to hide. That area is very narrow, where the current flows, which powers the playground's lighting. It is probable that while playing, she opened the wire, resulting in the electrocution. But this is preliminary data,” he said.

According to Sargsyan, there was no adult with the girl. “Her minor siblings and neighbors' children were with her. If an adult had been supervising the children, this incident might not have happened. In any case, they are usually under adult supervision, but this time, I don’t know why they went alone,” he added.

Anush Sargsyan also informed that an investigation was conducted until late last night. “The part of the wire that was wrapped was likely opened by the child, as the opening was fresh. Fragments of the wire were found, indicating that it was not open by someone else's intervention; it was opened by her,” he stated.
