EU Mission to Establish 3 Operational Centers in Jermuk, Ijevan, and Yeghgnadzor
The European Union's civilian mission in Armenia (EUMA) plans to establish three additional operational hubs in Jermuk, Ijevan, and Yeghgnadzor in the coming months, gradually reaching full operational capacity in the near future. This was announced by the mission's head, Markus Ritter, during a visit to Martuni with EU Ambassador Andrea Victorini, where they hosted the EU delegation for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia working group.
Ritter presented the mandate and activities of the civilian mission. According to him, in its first quarter of operations, the mission has conducted over 300 patrols in Goris, Jermuk, and Martuni in its hubs. Every week, the patrols cover more than 3,800 kilometers.
“Among other goals, we aim to contribute to stabilizing the security of border regions. According to numerous Armenian officials, the European Union’s civilian mission has contributed to a certain stabilization of the situation. However, the situation remains unstable,” added Mr. Ritter.
