Criminal Proceedings Initiated Following Soldier's Death, Circumstances Under Investigation

Reports have been received stating that on June 6, at 22:10, an ambulance brigade transported a soldier who had died from self-inflicted injuries at his residence to Heratsi Hospital No. 1. The soldier had been undergoing inpatient treatment since April 29, 2023, and was on recovery leave from May 5 until June 18, 2023.

This information has been provided by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

In connection with the incident, the Fourth Garrison Investigative Division of the RA Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings under the second part of Article 162 of the RA Criminal Code (driving a soldier to suicide). A forensic examination of the body has been appointed, and several individuals have been interrogated.

Necessary and urgent evidential and procedural actions are being undertaken to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
