150 Tons of Engine Oil Contaminates Dnipro Due to Hydro Plant Explosion

As a result of the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydro Power Plant, 150 tons of engine oil have spilled into the Dnipro River. This was reported by РБК-Украина, referencing a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council. It was also noted that there is a risk of over 300 tons of further oil leakage into the river.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on several international measures. These include calling for a session of the UN Security Council, appealing to international environmental organizations, and the International Criminal Court, as the actions of the Russians clearly indicate violations of the Geneva Conventions.

It is worth noting the mutual accusations from Ukraine and Russia regarding the explosion. Alexander Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, confirmed the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydro Power Plant in a short video message, stating that the water level will reach a critical point in 5 hours. According to the head of the administration, evacuations have begun from the dangerous areas experiencing flooding.

The Ukrainian 'South' operational command has accused Russian troops of damaging the Kakhovka Hydro Power Plant. Meanwhile, Russian military bloggers are blaming Ukrainian forces for the destruction of the hydro facility.
