Lawyers for Gayane Hakobyan Have Not Yet Received Court Ruling: Defense

Gayane Hakobyan's lawyer, Georgi Melikyan, stated that they have not yet received the court's ruling and cannot currently disclose the basis for such a decision. This was reported by the lawyer in an interview with Armenia Today.

It is noteworthy that on May 17, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case regarding the kidnapping of junior Pashinyan.

The accused in the case is the mother of deceased serviceman Zhora Martirosyan (Hakobyan), who is charged under Article 191, Part 1, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code (kidnapping a person or a close relative due to their political or state activities). The maximum punishment under this article is eight years of imprisonment.

Furthermore, it is recalled that the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction's first instance decided to release Gayane Hakobyan, who was accused of attempting to kidnap Prime Minister Ashot Pashinyan's son, from custody but then redetained her for another month and 15 days. The ruling was announced by Judge Manvel Shahverdyan.

Earlier today, the court changed her bail conditions from incarceration to house arrest, but after witness testimonies, including that of junior Pashinyan, the court reversed its decision and amended the ruling. The Prime Minister's son criticized the court's decision to release Hakobyan from custody and place her under house arrest, stating that for such a serious crime as kidnapping, house arrest is an excessively lenient measure.

On May 20, the court had detained Hakobyan.
