VIDEO. There is an opportunity to rectify everything, says Minasian on the incident with the head of Dilijan's police
The Minister of Justice of Armenia, Grigor Minasian, addressed the incident involving the head of the Dilijan police during a conversation with journalists. He stated, "The Criminal Code has a working institute of genuine remorse in Article 81, meaning that if a person has committed a crime that is of medium severity or minor severity, this institute exists if they express regret and make amends. I believe there is an opportunity to rectify everything," the minister noted.
It should be recalled that on June 1, a video was circulated showing how Arsen Gaytmzyan, the head of Dilijan's police, assaulted a 16-year-old boy at a restaurant and hotel complex. The incident took place on April 10.
Later, the Investigative Committee also reported that the head of the Dilijan police had apologized to the victim and was willing to apologize to the boy's parents as well. He fully understood and acknowledged that he had exhibited improper behavior and had requested not to initiate public criminal prosecution against him based on the grounds of genuine remorse.
