Export Ban on Car Catalysts Extended for Six Months
Starting June 25, the export of car catalysts from Armenia will be prohibited. Last December, the government imposed a temporary ban on the export of used ceramic waste from car catalytic converters classified under the EEU code 7112 99 000 0 for a period of six months, which will end on June 25.
The draft has been developed and presented on the e-draft platform by the Ministry of Economy. It will remain in effect until December 26 of this year.
The rationale mentions that the adoption of this decision is due to the need to improve environmental protection in Armenia, particularly in reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere from vehicles operating without a neutralization system, as well as to prevent the illegal circulation of installed car catalysts.
The justification also notes that during the application period of this ban, the illegal circulation of used car catalytic converters has decreased.
