Team Group Acquires 30% Stake in Georgian SkyTel
The Team Group has acquired a 30% stake in SkyTel, one of Georgia's leading telecommunications operators. According to the Team Group, SkyTel’s fixed and mobile internet services are available in over 2,200 settlements in Georgia, covering approximately 93% of the population. The company uses several international channels to provide internet and digital television services.
This deal aims to diversify the infrastructure entering Armenia, increase internet accessibility and security, and create a foundation for the Group member Team Telecom Armenia to strengthen its position in the region.
“This opens promising prospects for future collaborations with other international companies and for enhancing our existing potential. This transaction is one of our strategic moves to ensure even more reliable and uninterrupted internet for Armenia,” noted Haik Yesayan, co-founder of the Team Group.
“With the new co-owner, SkyTel has gained an experienced and strong partner. Thanks to Team's knowledge and experience, as well as our participation in the company, we will actively develop fiber optic internet service, which Team is already doing in Armenia. Specifically, we plan to expand the fiber optic network coverage to an additional 220-400 settlements in Georgia within a year,” said Archil Khojashvili, Director of SkyTel.
