Video: If Azerbaijan does not negotiate with the Artsakh resident, our wound will bear fruit - Alen Simonian

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, stated in a conversation with journalists that the focus should not be on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, but rather on the fixed area of 29,800 square kilometers of Armenia.

“We see that we have the November 9 document, all of whose points have been violated to some extent, and the state that is the guarantor is unfortunately responding inadequately,” he noted.

Responding to the remark that Azerbaijan is still not willing to negotiate with Stepanakert, Alen Simonian remarked that we must reach a point where they sit down and talk; otherwise, a situation favorable to Azerbaijan will not be created, leading to a gap that will remain unclosed for decades.

“If Azerbaijan does not negotiate with the Artsakh resident, our wound will one day bear its fruit. We do not have the right to talk about 'what if' at this moment, as negotiations are currently underway,” he stated.

According to Alen Simonian, international pressure plays a significant role, and in this regard, Armenia is succeeding. Referring to Aliyev's bravado, in which he calls on the people of Artsakh to adhere to Azerbaijani laws, Alen Simonian said that this is a constant tactic he employs before any negotiations.

“This is a statement made ahead of negotiations that should be taken seriously,” he added.
