Over 50 Injured in Clashes in Kosovo

Over 50 people have been injured during clashes in northern Kosovo. This is reported by Известия, citing data from medical institutions.

The media outlet notes that explosions occurred in front of the Zvečan city hall, with vehicles set ablaze. Serbs, in a show of peaceful protest, have sat in front of law enforcement officials. However, KFOR personnel have started using tear gas.

Recall that on the morning of May 26, Kosovo's security forces arrived at the municipal administration buildings in four municipalities and attempted to take control of them. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has put the Serbian army on maximum alert due to the escalation of the situation in Kosovo.

On May 28, Serbia's Defense Minister Miloš Vučević stated that tensions in Kosovo have reached a peak and could lead to armed conflict. Today, it has also been reported that NATO forces have blocked access to the town halls in the northern part of the region. Several hundred people have gathered near the local government buildings in the north of the province, demanding the removal of Kosovo police and the recall of newly elected Albanian mayors.
