We Have Recognized the Existence of Enclaves Mutually: Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of enclaves in the National Assembly. In response to a question from MP Tzovinar Vardanyan of the ruling My Step Alliance, Pashinyan stated that, fortunately or unfortunately, nothing is determined.
"The issue of enclaves has always existed at a political level and has been around for a long time. One of the articles in the 1999 exchange of territories document refers to the enclaves of Armenia and Azerbaijan," Pashinyan said.
According to Pashinyan, the question has both political and legal aspects. "At the political level, there have been discussions in Munich and Brussels regarding mutual recognition of the existence of enclaves, meaning that we recognize the existence of Artsvashen belonging to Armenia and enclaves within Armenian territory that belong to Azerbaijan. Politically, we acknowledge this, but I have stated that there are additional legal questions regarding at least some of them," Pashinyan noted.
