Suspect in Year-Old High-Profile Murder Case Detained in Aparan
On May 24, a suspect wanted for particularly serious crimes was apprehended and neutralized as a result of an operation carried out by law enforcement agencies. According to shamshyan.com, information was received at the Mashtots Police Department regarding 33-year-old A.A., who had been on the wanted list. After closely monitoring his movements for several hours, operatives managed to apprehend him on Bagratunyats Street in the capital through a special operation.
A.A. was then taken to the Mashtots Police Department before being transferred to the Aparan Police Station, as he had been on the run since November 2022, suspected of committing a particularly grave murder involving the use of firearms.
A criminal case had been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Aragatsotn regional investigative department, with pre-trial detention being the measure of restraint. A.A. was wanted in connection with a high-profile shooting and murders that occurred on June 19, 2022, in the Aragatsotn region. The shootings and murders took place in the administrative area of the village of Nigavan.
It’s noteworthy that on June 19, 2020, a dispute and gunfire occurred in Nigavan, resulting in one fatality. A total of seven men sustained injuries, one of whom passed away shortly after. According to police reports, the weapon used was a hunting rifle.
