Peskov Comments on Pashinyan's Statement
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, has commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) not functioning in the territory of Armenia. Pashinyan noted that the reason for this is that the organization does not explicitly define what his perceived territory of Armenia is. According to Pashinyan, this is a fundamental issue.
Peskov referred to the CSTO as an authoritative and effective organization and emphasized that Russia will continue dialogue with Armenia on this matter. “Overall, the CSTO is an organization that has its authority among its member countries. An organization that has previously demonstrated its effectiveness in various situations, and an organization that, from our perspective, has serious potential for further development. As for the Armenian Prime Minister’s statement, of course, we will continue our dialogue with our Armenian friends, and we will talk to them regarding our further joint participation in the CSTO’s activities,” he told Kommersant.
