Japan to Accept Ukrainian Soldiers for Treatment

The Japanese side will provide Ukraine with 100 military trucks and other vehicles, as well as nearly 30,000 army rations used by personnel of Japan's Self-Defense Forces. This was stated in a message released by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

It was noted that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made the corresponding promise to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during negotiations held in Hiroshima on Sunday. The head of government also mentioned that Japan would start accepting injured Ukrainian soldiers for treatment, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister also pledged to continue comprehensive support for Ukraine, including efforts aimed at restoring the country’s infrastructure. From May 19 to 21, Japan hosted the G7 summit in Hiroshima.

Initially, it was expected that Zelensky would participate via video link. However, he later expressed a desire to attend the meeting in person. The president arrived at Hiroshima airport on Saturday aboard a French government aircraft.
