Intensive Negotiations on the Peace Agreement Are Ongoing, Says Nikol Pashinyan

The geopolitical situation in our region remains tense, announced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during today’s press conference.

According to him, the government considers advancing the peace agenda as the primary method to overcome tension. "Intensive negotiations are underway concerning a peace and relations establishment agreement with Azerbaijan, and we hope to reach an agreement on the text as swiftly as possible and sign it," the Prime Minister stated.

He noted that the international community's perception is increasingly leaning towards the formulation that Armenia and Azerbaijan must unconditionally recognize each other's territorial integrity of 29,800 km² and 86,600 km², and that there should be dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert regarding the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh:

"We agree with this logic and conduct negotiations within this framework, emphasizing that international mechanisms to guarantee dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku are exceedingly important."

According to him, the strategic guarantee for Armenia's security is peace, which can be achieved through regulating relations with all neighbors. "This is by no means an easy process, but I believe it is what our people want and expect," he added.
